Hi. My name is Mary and I am new to the boards. I am trying to get a better way to get to know some of the mom's in my daughter's class. There are two girls that my daughter plays with all the time but I NEVER see the mom's at all, lol. I was going to leave a little note in the box of Melanie's friends for a playdate...would that be ok?

I think that's a great idea! Arrange a playdate for the girls, and you can have a cup of coffee with the other mothers while the kids play. You can trade off going to each other's houses or perhaps even meet somewhere, like a playground.

Hi Mary! Welcome!
I found events the center held were always a great opportunity to meet the other mom's of kids my daughter/son intereacted with. In one case, I found another day often travels so I suggested we meet for dinner one night at Panera when the dad's are away. Other times I would suggest a playdate. Your center may get permission from parents ahead of time about sharing emails, I know mine does so I've also asked for the email of a parent my daugther talks about a lot offered to have the friend over or meet up (in case the child hasn't had a playdate yet).
Good luck!
Mary

I started to get to know a lot of the parents by attending events at my son's center when he first started. If your child's center or school hosts events, definitely go! It's a great way to get to know people. From there, I formed some great relationships and began to arrange playdates with children (and their moms!) from my son's class.
