At what age did you start looking for a Kindergarten class for your child?

How early or at what age did you start looking for a Kindergarten class/Elementary school for your child? My daugher is 3.5 and is in preschool - but I wasn't sure if I should already be looking for an elementary school?  I know some have waiting lists and or require early sign-up.  If I started looking now, is that too early? Also, if you have any tips to make the transition easier that would be great.

The elementary school from the town in which you live will send you info next year on when to register. We got ours in the mail mid-January. However, if you're looking into private schools, it probably doesn't hurt to start looking now so you know which ones you like and what their registration deadlines are.

Progressive Mom is right, it isn't too early to start looking.  If you are looking at priviate schools, they usually start their application process in Febrary for the following fall.
