Birthday Parties (non drop-off) and Siblings

My daughter was invited to 2 birthday parties in one weekend.  One on Saturday and one on Sunday.  These are not drop-off parties.  Problem is my husband is traveling that weekend and I have a younger child too.  My daughter will be disappointed to have to miss these parties, but the thought of going and having my son watch from the other side of the glass, sounds miserable!  Would it be rude to ask if I can bring my son if I offer to pay the fee for him to participate?  The parties are for a 4 year old and a 5 year old.  My son is 2 1/2.

Re: Birthday Parties (non drop-off) and Siblings

I've always felt that if a party is specifically "non-drop off" the parents of the birthday boy/girl will absolutely understand that other parents might have siblings in tote. I think you are being very reasonable and considerate in offering to pay for and entertain your son and I'm sure that will not be a problem! I bet you will not be the only one there with a younger child. I think this behavior would only be questioned if the party was intended to be a drop-off event for friends of the birthday boy/girl only.
